Kyzyl Suu and Lake Song Kol, Kyrgyzstan
Still used by nomadic shepherds in the summer months, these simple, felt structures are equipped with basic cots along with either linens or sleeping bags. Bathroom facilities consist of simple shower cabins (note that hot water isn’t always available) and enclosed western-style toilets and are shared by all participants. Communal meals are typically served indoors at a low table where we sit on cushions on the floor, and are representative of traditional nomadic dishes.
